I see a parallel between deep thought, deep water, and deep space and this perceived parallel is a constant source of inspiration. Painting allows me to explore the mysterious, rich blackness inherent in each of these places. The subconscious mind, the ocean floor, outer space; these are places that we cannot readily see. There are unknown aspects of each of these and it is the unknown that I am interested in. The places represented in my paintings are the places where thoughts can visually manifest themselves underneath the weight of oceanic waves, floating in deep space.

Using a personal vocabulary of abstraction, my current work presents a subconscious exploration of my beliefs, my fascination with the natural world, an appreciation of darkness, and a desire to keep asking questions.
